Feature Friday: Cocoa and Bliss

Lauren Mueller is a Wilfrid Laurier alumna with a certificate in Public Relations from Humber College. We connected through our love of soccer and from that, our families had lots of pool dates. Fast forward to this year, I noticed before the launch of her website that her Instagram account was filled with amazing photos of delicious recipes that she’s created.

Now with the start of her new blog Cocoa and Bliss, Lauren’s mission is “to inspire readers to dedicate time to the health and well-being of their body – both physically and spiritually”. Lauren blogs about things “[she] personally use[s] and believe[s] in.” “My posts reflect my knowledge and passion of food, fashion, health and wellness as well as how to live a well-rounded lifestyle,” Lauren said.

Take a peak at our conversation below!

Christina Relke: How did Cocoa and Bliss begin? What was your inspiration?

Lauren Mueller: I have always used Instagram as a platform to share my recipes, photographs, etc. A few months ago, a handful of my followers, friends and family suggested that I start up my own blog. While I was hesitant at first, I am so glad I was pushed to start my own website. I created Cocoa and Bliss to share the things I love and show what I am passionate about.

CR: What skills did you learn during your PR degree that are helping you run your site?

LM: Humber PR teaches you exactly how to communicate to a specific demographic both visually and through writing. Humber taught me what catches people’s eye and what keeps them coming back for more. Courses such as Social and Digital Media, Design, and PR Writing enhanced my skills tremendously. This program was the first time I learned how to create a website, write content specifically for the web, and how to use graphic design software to enhance visuals and create innovative solutions.

CR: Which is your favourite blog post of yours?

This is an easy one for me! It is absolutely the blog post about my puppy, Cooper. He is the best decision I have made and is the perfect addition to my life. Writing the blog post that reflects on the first day we brought him home made me relive the moment. It was the best day, ever.

CR: What is your favourite thing to do when you’re not blogging?

My favourite thing to do when I’m not blogging is spending time with Taylor (my boyfriend) and Cooper, relaxing with girlfriends or working out in the gym. I love to be active and now that the warmer weather is approaching, I am excited to take my workouts outside and enjoy soaking up the sun!

Here is her recipe for Avocado and Coconut Green Smoothie, which I tried this morning in honour of her Feature!

Ingredients: ½ an avocado 1 cup of coconut water 1 cup of ice Handful of spinach Handful of kale Vanilla protein powder (I use Vega)

Tbsp of hemp hearts

Tbsp of flax seeds ½ a banana Cinnamon

Directions: 1. In a blender, combine the avocado, coconut water, ice, spinach, kale and protein powder & blend until smooth.

2. Chop up banana into slices. 3. Poor liquid into a cup & top with hemp hearts, flax seeds, banana slices & cinnamon. T I P:

You can top the smoothie with whatever your heart desires. Coconut flakes taste great & accent the coconut water nicely!
