Feature Friday: Life On The Go-Go

I would not have taken the leap to start my own website without being inspired by other people’s ventures and successes. Every now and then, I will be featuring another social media page, business, organization, or person that I personally find valuable, interesting, and worthy of recognition.

Cassie Caranci is a Western University and Alpha Phi Theta Eta alumna who is currently working on her diploma in Public Relations. I have known Cassie for almost 4 years and since we met she has been a busy bee who excels at anything she sets her mind to. Between balancing work, volunteer opportunities, and school, she now runs her own DIY website for those whose “life [is] on the go-go”!

“The focal premise of Life On The Go-Go is to give people tips on things they need to know quick,” said Cassie. From one busy bee to another, she wanted her readers to be able to “come to a place they can read a quick, 300 word [article]” — instead of combing through search engines and lengthy articles.

From how to make the perfect smoothie, DIY Lilly Pulitzer flower canvases, to how to excel at your next job interview, she hopes to make your life a little bit simpler. The tips she posts every week are targeted towards “people who are busy”. “[I posted] my beauty routine I do in the morning,” said Cassie. “It’s pretty quick… because I have places to be, like a lot of people do.”

As Cassie is able to write on a variety of topics, I highly recommend Life On The Go-Go for those of my readers who are looking for a website that deviates slightly from the health and fitness niche. Her personal and professional experience, along with her clear writing style and well organized site is great for the busy bee in all of us looking for a quick tip.

Below is Cassie’s recipe for “Chocolate Chip Banana Bread for the Soul“:

4×8 inch loaf pan

2 very ripe bananas, peeled

1/3 cup melted butter

1 cup of sugar (can use 3/4 cup, or 1/2 if you want to less sweet)

1 egg, beaten

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp baking soda

Pinch of salt

1 1/2 cups of all–purpose flour

1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C), and butter a 4×8 inch loaf pan.

2. In a mixing bowl, mash ripe bananas with a fork until smooth. Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas.

3. Mix in the baking soda and salt.

4. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.

5. Mix in the flour. Fold in chocolate chips.

6. Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan. I like to sprinkle more chocolate chips on top! Sometimes almonds too! Bake for 1 hour to 1 hour 10 minutes. Check at 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.

7. Remove from oven, and cool completely on a rack.

8. Remove from pan, slice and serve.
